Image
Official answers from Epic Games (Unreal Community) to various questions regarding Alembic Hair (Groom plugin) in Unreal Engine 4.26. Part 5. In this video, we will talk about an important event on my blog regarding the new developer answer page, and also: → I will show the performance of the "Meta-Human" scene on the 2080Ti as requested. → I'll tell you how to count the number of CV points in one guide → I will demonstrate a cool new shader from Epic Games. → show the performance of the scene with "Meerkat Demo" → I'll tell you how to improve Nick Rutlinh's material so that you can customize the color for the roots and tips separately. And in the next part, we will finally switch to the long-awaited practice. Meta Human creator by Epic Games. My first character test.

Image
Today I finally got access to MetaHuman creator from Epic Games. Anyone can get access. It is enough to go to the site - https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/metahuman-creator   and click the "Request Access" button. While this is beta and a lot is missing, but already very impressive. Firstly, I personally was impressed by the fact that the work is done in a browser and I did all this on a weak laptop with a Radeon video card - 2GB. Secondly, the quality of the characters. It is very close to a real person .. These emotions, wrinkles, pores ... You really believe. And the most important thing is good quality hair. But of course, it will be more interesting to me when they give me the opportunity to import my own groom assets. I have long dreamed of an editor that would allow me to create a full-fledged character for my hair so quickly in real time... Because really, to create a character of this quality, it takes at least a month ... well, maybe 3-4 for a very high-quality o

Redshift 3.0.43. RTX ON faster x2.8 times! - RS Principled Hair render test on 2x2080ti+NVLink.

Image
In this video, I'm showing a render-test of the new Redshift 3.0.43 on my dog project. The increase in speed on this scene: in one test - x1.7, and in the other x2.8 !!! And this is awesome! Since with the last test with the scorpion girl - I was a little upset, I was doing different tests all weekend - and threw them here on the forum - https://www.redshift3d.com/forums/viewthread/33548/#226035   During the tests, I came to the conclusion that RTX ON still needs to be improved in Redshift and not all tests are successful. We are already discussing these points with NVidia and the Redshift Team. I think that in subsequent releases, the situation will improve on those scenes that did not show acceleration ... Perhaps the reason for the slowdown in RTX ON in previous tests was the choice of the Hilbert method + increasing the bucket size to 256 ... I don't know. We need to check ... But here I left the default method - Spiral and bucket = 128 and it got a strong acceleration

Ornatrix for Maya: Hair for games(real-time hair). Part 5

Image
As promised, I'm starting a series of videos showing the complete creation of a hairstyle from scratch to the final - (hair for games) - real-time hair in Ornatrix for Maya. I am showing all the stages of creation and in this series, you will find out what stages my workflow consists of and how I start working with a hairstyle. When I make an asset for myself, there are three stages to it. 1. Sculpted hair shape 2. Hair for rendering - as a reference and for Unreal Alembic Hair 3. Creation of hair planes. This includes preparing the texture and the process itself. So I think it's already clear why the video begins with the stage of creating a hairstyle, and not immediately with hair-planes.
